In this class we will replace half-square triangles in traditional blocks with a curved two-patch to give a whole new contemporary look to old favorites. A great new design adventure with untold possibilities but easy enough for the confident beginner. The "Creative Curve" ruler will be used for ease in rotary cutting. Lyn provides four different patterns for the student to choose from.
For those of you who remember Lyn Mann and her "No Ugly Fabric" class a few years ago, you will recall her as an excellent teacher, product oriented and lots of fun. See Diane at the Programs table for an up close look at the samples. Sign up at the January meeting (only $25 for VQG members) and don't miss out.

Nancy Brown - September 26-27, 2007
Our speaker for the September meeting was the highly talented quilt maker and animal-lover, Nancy Brown. Nancy's favorite subject must be animals because her dogs, cats, pandas, tigers and other spectacular animal quilts capture the heart and soul of her subjects. One of her most delightful quilts won first place in the Innovative Wall Quilt category at Road to California in 2007. Take a look at this adorable quilt at http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2297988810033877753QbleDa or "Google" "Sunday in the Park with Mittens" and be amazed!
Nancy taught a class called "Cat Faces" Thursday, September 27th, the day after our meeting. We learned Nancy's technique for appliqué in this class and create a likeness of your sweet kitty at the same time. If your tastes to not run to cats, no matter: you'll be learning the skills of hand appliqué to be used for any project you wish.
